Well, new to me, anyway.
I went into my local hardware/builder's supply today and first thing I saw was a pallet of Barlow brand shotshells for sale. Supposedly dove loads. 12 ga. I asked about them as I was checking out and learned that they are based in Louisiana.
$18 a box!!! No thanks!
More info I've learned . . . it isn't Louisiana at all, but Louisville, GA. Seems I misunderstood the clerk. This is in the neighboring county to me! Evidently a startup company trying to make inroads in a tough market. I wish him well but cannot see how he can compete with "Big Box", just up the road a couple miles, which sells AAs for $12.99.
Maybe I can implant an idea in his mind to offer some low pressure stuff.

Wan’t there a chap in that region that offered low pressure shells some time ago. I seem to remember speaking, and purchasing, from a gent who sold 2&1/2” low pressure ammo.

Yes, Jay Menefee operated Polywad for a number of years and sold some high quality low pressure loads. He was near Macon.

I believe you are thinking of Shenk Ammo. Jake Shenk had a table at the Warrington, PA Vintager shoot a couple years ago. It seems that venture may have fizzled out. He and his ammo have not been seen since. Too bad

Starting a new business is hard and risky. I always wish them well.

If you look on FB at Barlow Ammunition there are some interesting pics of his loading equipment. Nice looking machines.

I have a warehouse full of shotshells in Cumming GA. I also have low pressure 12g and 20g 2 3/4" shells for older guns. We also have 12g 2 1/2" shells. PM me for more info.
Question for everyone else. Why do people always put up Winchester AA's as the standard?

I do not consider AAs " the standard", those were your words. It was simply a price comparison.
I shoot WW, Federal and Kent. None any better than the other. I just want a 1 1/8 oz. load at somewhere around 1150 fps, with hard shot. I can currently get that for $12.99.
I wish you all the best with your new line of ammo, but it's a very competitive business.
Please post more information about the low pressure loads for our vintage doubles!
Thanks for checking in on the forum.

My shell of choice for my vintage side by sides is B&P Comp 1- 7/8oz at 1160 FPS Wish I could find some 12 gauge 3/4oz as well
