I recently acquired a complete action (all parts) and trigger guard for a 12 bore Fred T Baker and anson/deely patent 3707 box lock. It is amazing in fit/finish and 100% engraving coverage on the frame and trigger guard. I am not sure what I am going to do with it but for $150 it is at least a neat paper weight.
The only negative is the cocking lever at the front bottom of the frame is broken. It does not look that hard to replicate. My question is what metal would you make this with and I am assuming would be hardened after making and fitting? Also can the associated forearm iron patents be obtained?
I would post pics but I do not use any hosting sights at this time.
Many thanks,

Hi Travis, as you know I make parts for all double guns. My suggestion is to use O1 (oil hardening steel). After machining the part you can harden it as you wish.

Would you consider PM'ing me your phone number and be willing to have a brief chat? I promise I will not abuse your time.
Many thanks

Just for one item find an old Engineers File, of suitable dimensions to make your part these are usually made from quality steel. Heat the File to red heat and let it cool slowly to return it to soft workable condition then re temper. Back in the day worn out files where put to all sorts of uses.
The only lessons in my life I truly did learn from where the ones I paid for!

Thanks to both for some excellent direction.
Although it will be a while before the frame becomes more than a paper-weight, the part making process is good skill practice.
Man what a crazy and time consuming hobby double shotguns is. Fun though.
Thanks again,

The suggestion of O1 is a good one, assuming you don’t have a pile of worn out files on hand. It is consistent and easy to work, and hardens nicely.
Best, Ted
