Greetings everyone. I have a German 20 gauge from 1924 but it does not have a makers mark on it. It looks like an Emil Kerner, I have two others from the 1920s, but it does have the initials of “A K” on the barrel flats and receiver. Who would the A be ?
Thank you
Kurt

KurtO,
Guns without "maker's marks" were typically made by a known manufacturer "for the trade" to be marketed by some other dealer who may or may not add their own markings to the gun. The "AK" is the touchmark of someone that did some work on the gun. There is no ledger or listing of these names showing positive identification. There are others that may make a guess (S) of names that can fit the initials.

Yeah, it is tough to mate initials without a monogram or something. Possibly if we knew their expertise by where it was applied? But on the water-table & flats sound like a dealer, say Albrecht Kind? If on the water-table, that is typically a systemmacher or action fella. In the event AK was a do-all mechanic, he would be Alfred K. or August K., & there is quite a few of K mechanics.
