Hello all,
New to the forum, been hunting and shooting for a few years. I only own a few shotguns used for clays and bird hunting.
I’m certainly no gunsmith, but I’m a decently skilled DIYer and skilled with my hands. I don’t mind doing the work but I also know when to say I am over my head.
I recently bought an American Arms (zabala) Derby side lock side by side.
I shot it for the first time on clays today and noticed the primer caps looked like they mushroomed out, the other look like it shredded.
I then inspected the receiver and noticed the striker plates looked like they pushed and stuck inward.
Is this just the case of missing or blown springs?
The pins worked fine otherwise and the gun broke clays. The shells were hard to remove afterwards as well.
Any advice for a fix would be greatly appreciated. As well as help find replacement parts.
I’ll most likely take it to a gunsmith, but they don’t open till tomorrow.
Has anyone else dealt with this issue before? Is this an easy repair I could do myself, or better handled by a professional? If so, depending on the issue how much could something like this run?
thanks
