When I was about 12 I signed up for a mail order taxidermy course from the Northwestern School of Taxidermy. I didn't get far with the course but I've always remembered their suggested method of finishing off a bird. Any bird. Place the bird on it's breast and put your foot on the back with enough force to prevent breathing. The 'dying flutter' signifies the job is done. Doesn't muss up the feathers at all!...Geo

I was wondering Lloyd, what barrel do you keep in your 870 "truck gun"? Do you keep a slug barrel in case you run across a "nasty" bear and use it for birds? Or a barrel that is more for bird hunting? Thanks.
