12 year old Setter (going on 5, mostly) 1938 Ithaca Lefever Nitro Special 16 gauge, two gray grouse.

The gun is 1938 vintage, same as my mom, factory 26” tubes, factory CYL and MOD chokes, and original 2 3/4” chambers, 6lbs, 1oz. Simple and plain as it is, all the kings horses and all the kings men cannot, at this date, produce a cost effective Nitro Special again.

The “mostly” part with the dog is she is starting to lose her hearing. We have pretty good hand signal coordination going on, and have been working with the vibration setting on her collar, she is just starting to get that. She spent the first year of life deathly ill with an autoimmune disorder, wish I had a buck for every time someone told me to put her down. I didn’t, and she is the happiest, healthiest, and calmest English Setter I’ve ever owned.

Good hunting, everybody!

Best,
Ted
