I'm reading over on the 16 gauge site this morning that Mike Lowry has passed. Mike was a truly spectacular fellow and I am greatful for the few times I got to chat with him down at Whittington.

God speed Michael.

He was a stand up guy on the boards, quite the optimist. You had mentioned he was having health issues when we were up north hunting, but, I was still shocked to read this.

I always am.

Best,
Ted

Mr. Lowry had quite the impressive CV, but you would have never known it in talking to him. Such a gentleman...

I'm going to be sad today.

I never met him in person but he was always helpful and knowledgeable in our exchanges on this board. Rest in peace Mike.

RIP. One of the nicest guys I've ever met on line. Not a cliche at all to say he will be missed.

A sad loss.

Looking at his somewhat unusual place of birth and his subsequent addresses in his impressive obituary I take it that his father was in the United States Navy?

Sad news - he was extraordinarily pleasant and hospitable on here. I am sure a tough loss for his family, friends, and other communities.

i appreciated the fact that his contributions, both here and 16ga.com, were invariably pleasant, polite and positive - he seemed to be immune to the urge to engage in the customary saber rattling that seems to delight many here. i have no doubt he was a top-drawer hunting companion.
godspeed, good sir, and kindest condolences to the family.

Sad news to hear.

I'm almost certain that if I went back to the time of my very first post here, there would be a reply Post from Skeetx welcoming me to the forum. And quite a few of us could say the same thing. He was a very helpful guy who was also a proud NRA Member and strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment. When he learned I was an NRA Endowment Member, he PM'd me an avatar image which I used for awhile.

Extremely sad to hear that. A wonderfully kind person. We never met in person, but he reached out to help me with some questions and then often checked back to see how things were going or just say hello. I wish I had checked back with him this season, it would have been great to chat. I’m sure he left a pile of goodness all over the place. He was just that way.

I will miss Mike. He and I spoke by phone a few years ago. He called me and wanted to talk about shooting doves. He expressed an interest in coming to GA to shoot with me but, it never happened.

Mike was a genuinely good hearted man. As I recall he was, at the time we talked, serving as a chaplain in one of the branches of military service, in the reserves I believe.

I do not recall ever knowing of Mike to say a derogatory word about anyone. That's a really good thing to have said about you.

Rest easy, Mike.

If anyone has the opportunity to post a link to his obituary I would really appreciate it.

I'm shocked to hear this! I wasn't aware that he was ill. He was a wonderful fellow. Always will to help, lots of great info and very knowledgeable.

Our prayers go out to his family and I know that he is in God's loving arms and in a much better place.

Rest in Peace Mike, you'll be missed greatly

Last month I saw on the 16 ga. forum where he had just gotten out of the hospital. I commented that I missed his dove report where he hunted almost daily shooting different guns. He replied that he hoped to rectify that soon. Never a cross or contentious post from him. He is missed. Gil

Headed back out for a deer hunt today. In the quiet moments that will surely follow I'll be thinking of Mike.

It's been a tough year for me in this department (all part of the aging game I'm afraid).

Get on with living or get on with dying, right?

Good luck on your hunt, filling a tag, and, your larder, will help you with the struggle that is the cycle of life.

Best,
Ted
