I just finished repairing a hairline crack on a friend's Browning BAR .270 where it meets the receiver, no sweat. But the forend has close to 1/8" up and down play in the same area. Tightening the forend lug/swivel stud has no affect. Anyone here have any experience with a fix for this with maybe a shim or Acraglas in the right place. Thanks.

John, I’m not an expert in this; however, I once had a Marlin 93 where the forend (close to 100 years old) had shrunk, became loose, and developed nearly a 1/8 inch gap between the wood and the receiver. I sold the gun without repairing it. But thinking about the repair I thought Acraglass in the right place, and if the Acraglass showed externally and didn’t look right send it to Mark Larson to work his magic with grain matching. I hope others come along with more suggestions.

Sorry for the double posting on this topic, guys. I don't know why this post didn't show until after I entered the other one...
