Has anyone had any experience with this rifle? I see that it now has a single aperture sight, rather than the previous twin flip-up rib sights, which would indicate barrel regulation. I wonder how this new rifle shoots? Thanks.

I have no experience with them. I found this on the internet, and it doesn’t give me a feeling of much promise.

I often wondered how well these Pedersoli percussion double rifles perform. I would hope that additional tinkering with the loads would provide much better regulation than what we saw in that article. But the author seemed to find such a large group at 50 meters satisfactory for hunting. I strongly disagree, and would soon be getting rid of a rifle that couldn't do better.

This flintlock version seems to print both barrels to the same elevation, and the slight horizontal spread can probably be reduced by altering the charge weight up or down (or in his case a bit more or less semolina).

And he reviewed the rifle you are asking about 11 years ago.

Again very consistent elevation.

The barrel regulation appears quite good in the Cap and Ball video. The version with the twin sights on the rib allows for zeroing each barrel. If the current model is that well-regulated $2000 does not seem much to ask for a double rifle, even if a muzzle loader.

Thanks for the information!

Yes, I had a 50 with the twin sights. I've been shooting old doubles for something over 25 years and believe I have a fair handle on regulating a double with loads. I was confident I could make a shooter out of the one I had. While individual barrels were accurate, regulation was beyond abysmal with barrels shooting as much as 8 to 10 inches apart. I didn't expect good regulation and I can't say I was disappointed in the rifle. Disappointed in that I couldn't achieve what I set out to do, get the barrels to regulate to one sight through loads yes but, the rifles were never said to be regulated and, mine wasn't close.

That's been over 10 years ago so might not be pertinent. Given my experience I wouldn't try another.

A double that requires two rear sights to get the barrels to shoot to the same POI is as good as a tomato stake to me.

After watching the videos I can't agree with their methods of shooting either rifle off rest.
