The hand written letter attached to the lid is an invitation to a hunt circa 1843. The image of the original owner really confirms this gun is from another era. Click on image to enlarge. HWK

The upper crust of the age dressed similarly. See attached factory letter. The gun resided in the collection of Larry Shelton for many years, the author of the book on Claybrough shotguns. The Purdey pinfire in a previous post also came from the Shelton collection. Besides hundreds of Claybroughs, Larry collected other fine guns as well. Last edited by SXS 40; 12/05/25 08:20 PM. HWK
