As the Holiday Season approaches, I want to wish everyone here the warmth and happiness of the holidays. Please remember those servicemen and women unable to be at home this time of year. I'll never forget mine in '67-'68. Merry CHRISTmas and a very Happy New Year! Karl ![[Linked Image from jpgbox.com]](https://www.jpgbox.com/jpg/75537_600x400.jpg) ![[Linked Image from jpgbox.com]](https://www.jpgbox.com/jpg/75538_600x400.jpg) Karl, back in the 1960s a friend was in basic training at Great Lakes Naval Training Center on a 3 day pass during the holiday season. He had gone to the train station with a few of his trainee friends to see them off for the holiday. Dickie lived too far from home to travel. He was approached by the local sheriff who asked if he was going home for the holidays. When he said "no", the sheriff invited him to his house where he had Christmas dinner with the sheriff's family. The sheriff, a WWII vet, did this every holiday season. Merry Christmas to all... My mom was famous in our neighborhood for taking in “strays” as she called them, just friends or acquaintances who were going to be alone at the holidays.
I have two myself, this Christmas, it is a tradition that came from her.
Merry Christmas to all of you. Going to church at 11:00 today, imagine I will get the pork loin that is going over the charcoal tomorrow marinating when I get home.
Best, Ted
