There certainly was under mine. A few weeks ago our daughter-in-law noticed that my young grandson was gathering materials. Last week when he asked to borrow her hot glue gun, she asked "What for?" and when he told her she asked "Why that?"

"Because Papa loves double barrel shotguns."

Yes, I do, pal, and although I have a "few" this one definitely is my new favorite.

It may not be on topic, but I had a second Great Grandson delivered on 27 December at 6 pounds 4 oz. Maybe he will inherit some of my doubles and combination guns, bringing the birth into topic. Anyway, I am happy enough to disregard any criticisms of being OT.

I bought myself a Beretta Explor. I hate it. It shouldn’t be long in my possession. A shame really, it’s exactly what I was looking for.
But, the safety is too far forward when wearing gloves. So, adios.
Prolly get a SBE lll before I head to Iceland.

Set one aside, that is about the same weight as he is. Should serve him well.

A great grandson' you hope will inherit and use some of your doubles and drillings... what could be more ON TOPIC than the hope for a new generation to carry on an appreciation for doubles and combination guns?

Congratulations Mike.

Your grandson's gift to you is priceless, FCF.

It reminded me of a card my oldest grandson made for me some 15-16 years ago at about age 7 or 8. It meant/means so much to this ol' grandpa.

You couldn't figure that out before you bought it?

Sure I could.
It was just like the any number of guns that you have purchased and promptly gotten rid of over the years.

It’s a shotgun. Not a wife.

I've never, in 66 years of shotgunning, bought a shotgun and "promptly gotten rid of" it. You're speaking a foreign language AFAIAC.

But then, I don't buy them on a whim, either.

That was for John.

It’s a nice shotgun.
But the ergonomics for upland gunning won’t work for me.

Lots of alternatives out there. No reason to fight the thing.

Then again, I never thought of a Super Black Eagle as an upland gun, either.

For Christmas I scored a brand new discontinued Galco canvas and leather gun case. More importantly, rather than what was under the tree, it was friends and family gathered around the tree!
Wishing everyone a healthy and happy New Year!

I got a digital hygrometer for my safe. A simple 40 watt bulb keeps it at 30% and 74.6 degrees. The wonder rod I used to have ended up getting dangerous. The rubber end got so hot it completely melted. So I decided to go with the light bulb a couple years ago. Looks like it's working fine. The light bulbs last about six months and I have enough stored up to keep me going for a several years.

Children are an absolute treasure, and the love of a child is one of life's greatest blessings. Anyone with loving grandchildren has some favor in God's eyes.

How right you are. The shotgun maker and his younger sister and brother spent the night here last night and what joy. They are indeed, “…a crown to the aged.”

I picked up an old Wm. Parkhurst hammer gun here in Tree City at a gun shop last week. First hammer gun I ever owned. Pretty common gun from what I am reading. Lots of articles about them on the internet. Nice wood. I thought it was a nice Christmas present to myself.

I was hoping for a long range capable rifle but sadly it didn't show.

I had to be satisfied with a box of titanium goodies for the titanium bike resto
