Ruger has announced they are reintroducing the old Red Label. There web sight says it is being built by CSMC. It looks like the Revelation. The gun on the website shows a 20 ga. with plain wood, blued action carrying a MSRP of $3299. No mention of who does the warranty work. Rugers tend to retail lower than MSRP so I’m guessing it will land at the $2999 level. It will be interesting to watch.

Just another thinly disguised iteration of the Rizzini that Tony bought the rights to produce that resulted in the Inverness and Revelation, as well as the Model 21 o/u. If you didn’t figure all of this out in about 18 seconds, well…

Well, if it’s like an Inverness, that would be a great deal I hope you’re right John I have my hunting partner bought one quite a few years ago. He shoots three times a week and if he doesn’t have that gun, he won’t go and he paid a lot more than $3200 for it !!And I have to say it’s beautiful. It looks like the McKay Brown over and under I don’t like the blue frame looks like a model 21 but having polished and glued a frame now I know why they engrave guns to hide all the imperfections very difficult to get a perfect blue frame. I’d like to look at one, but they’re not available anywhere. I don’t think they’re really out yet. I talked to my dealer here who is one of their elite Ruger shops according to their website and he’s never even heard of it. When are they coming out soon or just a pre-pre-announcement?

I read about this on the Ruger forum a few days ago. There are a lot of ifs, buts and ANDS about this gun. A lot of people loved the older Ruger shotguns and had great success with them. I have a buddy who still shoots his 28 gauge- shoots it well, and loves it. On the other hand there were so many people who had problems with theirs and had to continue to send them back to Ruger with the same problem over and over. I always had the feeling that the people at Ruger were happy to drop this line of guns because they caused so many problems. Some people might buy them because they have the old ones and love the Ruger name. It will be a situation similar to the new Colt Pythons that are being produced. Other people might not buy them because of the CSMC and their dislike for that company. Others might buy them because they feel CSMC will make them and warranty them better. I am wondering also who is going to warranty them. I wonder if it will be Ruger. It is just another wait and see thing. Good luck!!

Had a first year Red Label. It looked nice, carried well (hell, I was in my 20s, I thought a Garand carried well) but, grew to sure not liking that gun. It weighed almost as much as the other O/U in the stable, a Beretta Silver Snipe 12 gauge. I hated the safety, it would drift to the center position while hunting, and you couldn’t get it off.

Dumped it.

I owned some Ruger stock for a while. Much like the guns, lackluster, and I dumped that, too.

The latest Red Label? Look up “lackluster” in the dictionary and there will probably be a picture of that gun. But, the good news is used Beretta prices have never looked better.

YMMV.

Best,
Ted

original 20's were heavy and still kicked like a mule. A fair amount of chatter on Facebook about this and several CSMC detractors saying no way.
