I've got a few guns to get ready for a Guns international listing but I'd been idlely considered dumping a few old coins to perhaps fund a new "toy". Stuff I'd bought ~25-years ago for something like $7 apiece (circulated Morgans). I just saw yesterday that silver had hit $83 an ounce...sheesh!
What the heck is driving that? It now seems that at least a few of yesterday's treasures are still valuable...

I remember it wasn't that long ago silver was down to about $5 an ounce, wasn't it? I have a whole housefull of silver that belonged to my family. I would hate to sell it, though. A lot of people are going to be selling their silver, gold, guns and everything else here shortly. Think about it. You'll figure out what is driving it. Good luck.

My two .01's, Silver's high, sell half, buy back next time it's well under half, it will happen. Buy the gun. Silver coins, bars are so much fun, really, as they just lie there. We're reaching the point where today's joy outweighs tomorrow's gain. Cheers, Chief

I have held metals as a hedge for many years now but...I'm not feeling nearly as insecure these days (for some reason). Chief's point is what is motivating me these days (it's starting to feel like my time is running a bit short for such things, as I keep losing friends and family to age and infirmity).

Hey Llloyd3, similar thought here, different direction. Starting to winnow down the herd to the guns I actually enjoy and use. Down to the four finalists. The proceeds go into the "Palace" (camper) and trips. Kansas is calling!

Chief: No need to winnow just yet, as I'm not convinced as to where the gun thing is going, in Colorado and elsewhere.
When I'm done with'em somebody will figure them out, I'm confident.

based upon this past years activity, demand for classic pre war sxs hunting guns continues to decline...

FYI Lloyd,
I just talked to friend here in Colorado who buys silver & gold as part of his business. He said that most buyers are being reluctant to buy right now because they have a glut of silver inventory from everyone wanting to cash out their stash with these high prices and those that are buying will probably be at melt weight prices or below. Plus, they would be buying at the highest price in years and don't want to get stuck if the market has a downturn.
