I'm curious Brent, why you need them? I know you don't store your guns in them long-term and how many can you take with you on a trip?.
Over the years, I've collected a couple dozen soft cases some of excellent quality, some pretty pedestrian. Now I use them for shipping when I sell a gun.
They are great for shipping doubles. Drop the barrels in, fold it over, put the butt end in and tie it up before wrapping in brown paper/bubble wrap.
That's a fair question, Rob.
On a hunting trip, there's almost invariably. At least two and sometimes three guns. We're most shooting matches. There's usually three guns. When I go to ratone for shooting a whole bunch of matches and spending nearly a month there, i need on the order of ten plus maybe a few more to shoot for fun and games.
Some of my guns have excessively long barrels up to forty two inches. Some are fairly short. You can stick a short gun and a long case, of course, but that can be a bit of a pain in the ass too.
I'm not planning to move again so I probably don't need to bag up everything.I own. But I still need a pile of them. Of course, there are the hard cases as well, and some of those are really bulky for international travel. Those never come out for matches nearby or even most of the long distance matches on the continent. Another four or five english style take down shotgun cases. I don't really like to use those when i'm hunting either. But occasionally I do. Seems like I need them all for some reason.I don't know why. Two are customed to the guns that match them.
In the end, I probably never need more than a dozen soft cases. But they gotta be the right ones, within reason.
