As I said, Bill, everything is politics, even fair comment relating to what many Americans are aware: extraordinary fiscal, current account, trade, oil and social deficits; the world's only superpower now owing the rest of the world instead of previously the rest of the world owing it.
With little or no discussion of these structural challenges by presidential hopefuls in the primary battles, I said it's unlikely one could expect serious political comment here, only more of the tedious rants which from the replies so far indicate members felt unanimously they could do without.
I don't think Canadians mind being called the socialist North. That's fair comment, too. The US and Canada have mixed economies. Canada's is the strongest of the G8. The US does more business with one province, Ontario, than it does with Japan. We've a whopping trade surplus, and shipping increasing amounts of natural gas, oil and hydro south.
