I only made the one as my little RCBS JR press nearly gave up the ghost with the force needed ! being a flat nosed soft point it allowed the surplus lead to extrude out of the top. I have sent you a pic of the assembled round by email - I never fired it but kept it as a souvenir.

I'm sure with a bigger press and an interim sizing die you could easily make and try a variety of different size and shape bullets. I can't attest for the accuracy of the bullet with this process but the one I made looked good.

Quite a long time has gone by since you posted this suggestion. I've been mostly using patched lead bullets, but after messing around with sizing bullets to feed a .318" bore Merkel double rifle, as well as to make .300" bullets for my 300 Sherwood, I finally got around to ordering sizers to try and make jacketed bullets in .366. So far no luck. I could easily drive a .375" 200gr jacketed flat point Sierra through a .373" sizing die, but trying to jump from there to .366" was unrealistic, at least for me. So I've ordered .370 and .368 dies. Hopefully will be able to update in a week or two, depending on Lee's shipping schedule.

I received the two additional Lee bullet sizers & punches from Lee today. Fast processing and shipment from them (I ordered direct.)

So I was successful in sizing down a .375 200gr JSP Sierra bullet (item #2900) to .366 with the use of 4 different Lee bullet sizers & punches. First .373", then .370", then .368" and finally .366" Exterior of the 4 test bullets done so far seem to have intact jackets with no tears or cracks to the jackets. I started these unsuccessfully using the same lube I use for cast bullets, Rooster Jacket. I switched to Imperial Sizing Wax for the last 3 phases and that worked. I'm interested in starting from scratch with more bullets using just Imperial Sizing Wax, as the Rooster lube left on the bullets for a few days seemed to have tarnished the copper jackets while I was waiting for the 2 additional sizing dies.

Definitely promising for when I want to shoot jacketed bullets from my 360 2.25" BPE doubles and single shots.

If you want to try this, here are what I believe you need:

* Lee Breech Lock Bullet Sizer Kit, #91532. This has two pieces that thread together to hold the actual die that sizes the bullet down, and breech lock threads on its exterior for mounting to the press. It also grips the bottle that catches the sized bullets. Price, from Lee is $20
* Lee APP Bottle Adaptor, #91151. This has a funnel and bottle. The funnel is held by the two pieces of #91532 and the bottle screws into the funnel. Price from Lee is $7
* Lee Bullet Sizers and Punches, in the various sizes you need to step down the bullet diameter to what you need. With cast lead I could go .009" in one step. With a jacketed round nose bullets I went in .003" increments. For a different rifle, jacketed spitzers were taken from 0.323" to 0.318" in one step. My final sizing was from .368" to .366" and the part# for that die was #91777. Price is $16 per sizer. I needed 4 of these, so $64.

If you already have a Lee breech-lock press you're good with the above. If you don't, you need their breech lock update kit, which is an adaptor sized for your press' arbor thread pitch that lets it use Lee's breech lock dies. See their website for which product fits your press. One example of the 2 of these that are available is #90094, priced at $18.

So for me, this set up totaled is $109 plus tax & shipping, if you order the right stuff all at once. Or you could take my route and have at least 5 orders to get everything I needed. BTW, the LEE folks are working on improving the product info on their site as they know it's not clear for these sizers and punches.

Hope this saves someone some time.

Shooting report as soon as possible will follow.

Chris

That's a lot of trouble when you could just cast bullets. There is no need for old barrel wearing jackets at 360 EXP velocities anyway.
