I just received my cased Rodda 577-500 self cocking double hammer gun. In the case are some reloading tools. Paper patch bullet mold, brass screw capper/decapper and a case resizer. I understand how all of them work except for the capper. The decapper part is easy. I don't understand how the capper part works. I think that the part on the bottom of the T screw is homemade. The round knob on top screws in and out but I don't see anything happening either in or out. I can't figure out how it would reprime a case. It's made by Rigby and Bartram.

Mike:

How does the resizing operation work with only 180 degrees of the case contained in the die? Size and rotate 180 degrees?

Is there provisions for a removable primer ram attachment to the round knob assembly?

Thanks,
Ken

The capper doesn't resize. There's another tool for resizing.

Sorry, I misread your original post as the tool was one in all inclusive.

I’ll say that tool is quite a complication to achieve two simple operations!😏. I’m inclined to think there is a primer ram missing. Maybe not.

I prefer something like this.
Less complicated than even a Pope style de/re capper.

Looks pretty simple and just uses a screw for the pressure instead of a cam.

So with it set up like that tell me how to recap. If I take off the homemade brass piece at the end of the screw it leaves a large hole that the primer would then go into. These are the only other photos I can find on the net.

Looks like you have the brass in upside down? Oh, I see. You have the decapper swung in which should be out for recapping?
