Brevex #19 joins the Collection - 375 H&H - Maurice Ottmar Stock

Its been a long time (almost a year) looking to add Brevex No. 19 to my collection. Of all my Brevex rifles, this is the first in 375 H&H caliber. And, its also my first rifle, of any make, with an original Maurice Ottmar Custom Stock. My pictured don't do justice to the quality of his work. The seller indicated the rifle came from, and was built by, Champlin Arms Co. The barrel is marked as such. The work is dated on the bottom of the barrel "May 14, 1985" built by William (Bill) Rinie who was Champlin's custom builder at that time.

Specs for this wonderful rifle are as follows:

Brevex Custom - SN C.F.A.011
Breves Action - Stamped "M300 No.11"
Barrel Length - 25-1/4"
Length of Pull - 13-3/4" over Black Silvers Style Recoil Pad
Weight - 10 lbs 15 oz (with scope)
Trigger - Blackburn Adjustable
Safety - 2-position Winchester Style Wing
Sights - Single Standing rear on 1/4 rib - ramp front sight w/ bead
Sights - Schmidt Bender 1.5-4x24 Zenith SFP w/ German Reticle w/ Flash Dot - EAW "Quick-Loc" pivot-mounts
Stock - Dark French Walnut w/ fine checkering w/ ribbons by Maurice Ottmar - stamped "OTTMAR" and "PSALM 37:4-5"
Features - Recessed rear sling eye - under-barrel front eye

Maurice Ottmar had a wonderful style in the stocks he made. That’s a beautiful rifle. His work is hard to come by. Congratulations!

Of all the rifles you posted here, this one is the best by miles, in my opinion.

Very nice rifle. Maurice Ottmar's work is beautiful, and very well proportioned. I'd have never guessed that rifle weighs nearly 11 pounds scoped.

Agree with what's stated above. Quite beautiful. I like the details like the skeleton grip cap.

Met Ottmar once back in the '70s. But nobody mentioned he was a stocker! This was at The University of Idaho, where gun-related topics were near the top of many peoples' conversational preferences....

He was my bosses brother-in-law, so maybe there were some "family politics" involved. Too bad, I just might have learned a thing or two!
