By ClapperZapper's logic, the United States must also be responsible for the deaths of 60 to 85 million people who died during WWII, simply because our government decided to confront evil, and the majority of our people got behind the war effort.

But if the same thing happened today, 21st century Democrats would be doing all they could to stop it, especially assuming it was Donald Trump confronting Germany and Japan. And if they couldn't stop it, they would be doing all they could to end it before the job was properly finished, just so they could later complain that it was a failure.
