he bought it to harvest the barrels............
Exactly. I threw a low bid on it assuming it was more or less a junker but once I received it, I found that that was not the case. Hence, I'm 'stuck' with it until I come up with a better plan. I've already decided that my original plan isn't going to work,.....I'm not going to scrap the gun for the barrels. It'll find a home,.....hopefully with someone who wants it and has some tubes to swap me for it. I understand that there
should be barrels full of old barrels somewhere but I also understand that I've been looking off and on for probably two decades and haven't found them. I've found an enormous quantity of $200 shotguns that are too nice to scrap and I've found a few sets of 12ga tubes that aren't quite what I'm looking for. Right now I can reach out and grab half a dozen 10ga sets of over-priced poor quality, poor condition barrels. I don't want those.
I haven't posted here in a
long time, but I'm not new. Again, I know better than to destroy this gun and I'm not gonna do it. Rest easy. I'm a 'collector' of 'projects' and was heavy into the Brit doubles many yrs ago. Still have probably close to a hundred of them stashed away, mostly solid but poorer condition guns made by second and third tier makers. 3 or 4 Lindners and a dozen or so plain grade American guns. Although I don't like Ithacas I gotta say this is probably one of my better guns, certainly as far as original finish goes. But I don't want it. I just need some tubes. If someone has a source I'd love to hear about it. I'm hesitant to just sell the Ithaca,......I try real hard not to buy and sell,.....but I could justify a swap.
