I was just in the dungeon looking for something else and I found an as new vintage box of 50 Kynoch solid bullets (not ammo) in their compartmentalized box labeled "Kynoch .450/400 Nitro Express 400. grain Solid Bullets". They measure .4095. What do you suppose they might be worth today? The box has a stamped purple "WARNING Keep out of the reach of children" so they can't be too old but I've had them since the early 1960s. So let that be a lesson children - if you are loading for your dad and the elephant is charging be sure and tell him you're very sorry.

Have they got the Kynoch date code (number, letter, letter) stamped on the box or packing slip?

If so I can tell you the date.

If there is an additional S stamped after the code they have a reinforcing steel envelope between the gilding metal outer jacket and the lead core.

There is a stamped code that I read as K4764. The top of what appears to be the 7 is smeared but the downstroke has a cross bar like a European 7. There is no "S" but there is definitely steel under the bronze jacket. I could hardly pull the bullet off the magnet.
