At that time there was little distinction between military and commercial Mauser actions. This one with the downward, straight bolt handle and double-set triggers is a sporter. That rifle is nice, complete with all matching and numbered parts. So many have been altered, stripped or cut down, it would be a shame to do that to this rifle. if you are looking for a project, there is a non-completed rifle out there just waiting for you. If you want a 7x57 by all means find one. I have one, great cartridge.
