This is the third "really nice" custom 99 I have seen of late. I finally connected and brought one home.
I am pretty happy with it. I think the deer will be less so! It always bothers me to find things like this, with no story, no history, no idea where it came from.

Lovely workmanship and scrumptious wood.

Alas, time to thin the herd…..

Wish I could see your pictures, but Imgur has blocked us on this side of the pond.

This is my .250/3000; Model EG, not so much “custom” as “hacked about a bit”.

The Buffalo horn schnable fore-end tip is the result of my trying to fix the sling swivel eye too close to the original tip of the fore-end.

The saddle type cheek piece was cut from the shattered remains of Ross .280 Sporter stock.

The sling is a Parker-Hale Sportarget, sadly (and like the rifle) no longer made.

I have recently moved the Swarovski 3-9 to a .243, and replaced it with a 3-10 Nickel scope.

It is reassuringly accurate.

Lower 2 rounds old (white box) W-W 87 gr. factory ammo, upper 2 the 100 gr. Norma factory pictured, both probably about 50 years old.

What a beautiful 99. Great buy. There would not be any hesitating for me in seeing that rifle for sale.

I have had three 99s (one 250/3000 & two 22IMPs) which are great rifles but none of my rifles match your rifle.

Life is too short to hunt with ugly guns.

That's a beautiful rifle. I especially like the wood and the engraving on the buttplate. And I love to shoot with peepsights. Thanks for sharing the pictures!

.300 Savage fixed frame. Forend wood is a fleur and ribbon checkered Savage original, but not original the rifle.

It sure is a beautiful rifle, I am curious, it has an interesting and well-done trapdoor buttplate. What is behind it?

Lovely rifle. That's one of those, "if it could talk" rifles.

Congrats on the purchase. Would like to see more pictures of the overall rifle. The buttstock as I am sure you know is not factory and I believe that engraved trap buttplates could be commercially obtained to put on the new stock. I would like to see a pic of the forearm as I am not sure I understood your description.
If you get out and test fire it please let us know how it goes. The deer in your area should be scared. smile
