In case some were wondering about Mass gun laws:
(A) I am not an attorney, nor do I play one on TV, nor do I give any legal advice.
(B) I am a CT resident.
(C) I am an officer of the Western Mass Bird Dog Club, at which I shoot and hunt at.
(D) I am a certified SCTP Youth Shooting Sports coach for the Nutmeg Clay Crushers out of the Hartford Gun Club. We travel with minors, with firearms, with ammunition into (and through) MA to shoot at competitions in MA and the region.
(E) I am an NRA certified RSO.
With that said...my interpretations at the basic level:
(1) When transporting firearms in MA, they must be in a locked hard case.
(2) When transporting ammunition in MA, it must be in a separate, from firearms, locked hard case.
(3) Do not bring a semi-auto in MA from out of state.
(4) Non-Mass residents may hunt and attend shooting competitions in Mass.
Please read the following advisory statement from Attorney Neil Tassel sent to the Minute Man Sportsman's Club on the subject of non-resident range use (and firearms) and make your own judgement:
