If you’re looking for project level guns I would look at something already in this country. That takes a lot of the unknowns out of the equation and the long delays.

Two things if you bring a gun back with you via plane. Check with the airlines that you will be traveling with ahead of time. Let them know its a gun, even an old one. They may give you an issue, just because its a gun. Also, make sure you have sufficient documentation to prove to the customs official that it does not require a form 6.

I definitely trawl the American auction sites as well, but I'm primarily interested in British guns. As you probably know, there are at least 1000 British guns (especially lower grade) for sale in england for every one in the states. There is, of course, a premium that comes with that scarcity. e.g at Holts sealed bid this month, there are about 350 British boxlocks for sale. The majority will sell for under $1000. Many will go for less than $250.

Its not worth buying one or two cheap box locks
