There is an early Commercial Oberndorf Type B Mauser advertised at below market value
in the classified section of the 24-Hr Campfire site. Half-round barrel-Paul Jaeger mounts and Lyman 48 receiver sight.
I have a pre-war Mauser Magazine rifle catalog and this rifle is chambered in 30 Govt 06.

Ads pile up quickly there, so it will be necessary to scroll back 3 or 4 pages to find it.
Curious as to opinions on this rifle. There is a stock chip from probable recoil just behind the tang.

Not a commercial per se but a like new 1940 Suhl build of a 9.3x57 for the Scandinavian market on an early small ring. Great hunting rifle that cost me $210. A post war German build on a small ring with double sets, a spoon bolt and a little engraving and full stocked in '06. Most accurate Mauser I ever have had and maybe the best $145 I ever spent on a rifle. There are nice Mausers out there.

The Type B 30 Govt o6 is still there. One has to find the right ad, of course.

A friend's uncle brought this back after WWII, not sure exactly when. It found its way to me, it's still an 8MM.

Spoon handle, double set triggers, integral, full length rib.

I can't shoot iron sites so I've toyed with the idea of mounting a scope, but those stippled rings are too pretty... maybe a bolt mounted peep site?

Who am I kidding.... I sure don't need another rifle.

I just added a bolt peep to a friend's Holland .240 Apex for the same reason, he loves it.

I should've been more explicit Steve, was that a cocking piece site you installed?

Now, I'm no expert, but this just doesn't look right to me, aside from the reworked bolt handle. The US 1906 stamping looks a little too sloppy to be Mauser work, and the stippling doesn't look like Mauser factory work either. The radius cut in the receiver ring appears to have been done after the stippling, as it's cut into the stippling. The checkering on the forend and grip don't appear to match either, although they're not pictured really well to be able to tell for sure. I'm also curious why he didn't take a picture of the markings on top of the barrel in front of the rear sight.
