Found a really neat Browning 425, Mid 90's Grade 5 20 gauge, 30".
I really liked the wood and that the barrels weren't ported.

I hate the thought that someone may have Bubba'd this gun.
Any ideas?

A spare part/ replaced part in the box, doesn't scream bubba'd to me. Nor does the appearcance of the gun indicate much concern for risk of issues.

Very nice gun!

The Browning/Miroku 20s with 30" barrels are sweet handling ans smooth swinging guns.

Look at an exploded view of that model. No, I don't know what that part is, but it is probably in the exploded view. Nice gun.

.
I spoke with Art Isaacson yesterday and sent him an image of "the part".

He and Nick both said they've never seen one of these inside a Browning.

Looks like a clip off a modern pocket knife. They come off all the time. Luckily the knife is usually inside your pocket when these pop off. You lose the clip but the knife slides safely into your pocket.

You are going to throw it away, right Bob?

That you reported that Art’s has never seen one leaves me a bit uneasy, or, would, if I was into the Browning thing…

Best,
Ted

Perhaps some kind of After-market, Euro-trash, Bean-counting, Buero-part meant to satisfy some stupid rule or regulation.
Who knows?

They ain’t my bag, but, I’m thinking every Browning O/U I’ve ever handled had an automatic safety. Berettas too, to be honest.

Is the factory version of that part that much different than your loose in the box version?

Ted

I have four Superposeds here at the moment, and five Mirokus (same as a Citori).

Not one of them have automatic safeties.

I just bought a Beretta SPll 12 gauge with an automatic safety. Had to take it to a smith to have it changed to a manual safety. Works great, now!! šŸ‘
