Looks like a clip off a modern pocket knife. They come off all the time. Luckily the knife is usually inside your pocket when these pop off. You lose the clip but the knife slides safely into your pocket.

They ain’t my bag, but, I’m thinking every Browning O/U I’ve ever handled had an automatic safety. Berettas too, to be honest.

Is the factory version of that part that much different than your loose in the box version?

I have four Superposeds here at the moment, and five Mirokus (same as a Citori).

Not one of them have automatic safeties.
