Looks like a clip off a modern pocket knife. They come off all the time. Luckily the knife is usually inside your pocket when these pop off. You lose the clip but the knife slides safely into your pocket.

Good job of "sleuthing", Bob. Hope you enjoy the gun.

You are going to throw it away, right Bob?
That you reported that Art’s has never seen one leaves me a bit uneasy, or, would, if I was into the Browning thing…
Best, Ted

Thirties on a twenty are sweet. It sounded a bit ribald -- until I understood. Ribald? Perish the thought. 😉
May God bless America and those who defend her.

He and Nick both said they've never seen one of these inside a Browning. Perhaps some kind of After-market, Euro-trash, Bean-counting, Buero-part meant to satisfy some stupid rule or regulation. Who knows?

Who knows? They ain’t my bag, but, I’m thinking every Browning O/U I’ve ever handled had an automatic safety. Berettas too, to be honest. Is the factory version of that part that much different than your loose in the box version? Best, Ted

Best, Ted I have four Superposeds here at the moment, and five Mirokus (same as a Citori). Not one of them have automatic safeties.
