This weekend was the Colorado Gun Collectors Association show, “Internationally Known as the Best Gun Show”. (Easier to claim than prove.) I can say that with 800 tables they do a good job of focusing participation on antique and C&R arms and related items. No “jerky and junk”, no black rifles and plastic pistols. It’s a classic arms “show and sell” not a double gun gathering but to me it’s fascinating. I could spend all day both days easing along the aisles, talking with the collectors/vendors and listening in on conversations. I never have but I could.

It was good to catch up with Steve (SKB) at the Bertram table and to talk with out of state displayers.

I thought the president had some things to say that were worth repeating.

“We have worked hard to continue this great tradition where people from across the country can meet to share stories, enjoy each other’s company, and buy and sell items to further their collections.”

“This has been a particularly tough year for a lot of us as we have lost many of our friends. That has made me reflect a lot more on the friends I still have and how much I appreciate them.”

“Gun shows and gun collectors have been under a lot of pressure the last few years with all of the legislation aimed at trying to curb gun violence. We know we are not the problem, but it is hard to convince others that don’t own or understand guns. It is more important than ever to support one another in this fight to maintain our Second Amendment Rights.”

I was there yesterday and it was a great day among great folks.

Sounds like a great show. How many members does the Colorado Gun Collectors Association have?

Where was it held and is it only a one time per year event?

The last number I’ve seen was around 500. I don’t know how current that is but I suspect it’s lower now. I hope I’m wrong.

It is a once a year show held this same weekend in May each year. It was long held at the Denver Mart but when the Mart became a COVID casualty it first went to the Springs and then found a new home at the Island Grove Event Center in Greeley. It’s further away from the population center but has plenty of space and plenty of free parking. The Denver Fly Fishing show on the other hand chose to move to the Gaylord Center near DIA. Parking there is $15/day ($33 overnight) and hotel rooms start at around $400.

I missed it this year due to familial obligations but it is very-much still worth the trip.

It may well be the last of the good shows out here.

You gentlemen wouldn't happen to know a gunmaker named T. Jersa from the Denver area would you? Someone I know was asking about him.
