Pulled a pile of tags in the draw here today. Most of my group is in posession of both Colorado elk and deer tags for a change (it's been quite a while) and at historically productive locations (the other factor here).
This should be a very fun Fall!

Lloyd, were your odds of success increased due to an increase in the number of tags allotted?
It seems that a number of States are increasing the number of available tags for deer and other cervids due to the increasing spread of CWD. One of the Wildlife Management Units where I deer hunt had a nearly 50% increase in antlerless tags last season compared to several prior years, and it sure wasn't due to excessively large herd numbers.

Keith: Colorado will gladly sell you tags that you'll never fill and they sell them by the boatload (we're rapidly becoming California here, sadly).
But...for at-least one more year I be afield with most of my old crew and we'll all have a good chance of filling our tags. Taking it one year at a time now and darn greatful for it.

A friend and his crew filled all their tags over by the Flattops and every animal tested positive for CWD.

We've not had that issue crop up in our traditional hunt areas yet for elk just yet (1 doe deer was problematic) but we do test every animal.
It's all part of the deal anymore. Still a good trip and with good friends.

Up the road from you, it's looking like Montana is cutting out of state tags. Seems like CO likes to poo on hunters and hunting, but will gladly take money, lol.

Well, the Front Range and Boulder (mostly transplants) are left and the rest of the State is traditional right, that's where it comes from.

We are so overrun with deer here that I would welcome CWD. They are nothing short of a nuisance.
May God bless America and those who defend her.

Stan, I am pretty sure you could find some young lads in your local area that would be happy help you with your problem; you don't want CWD anywhere around. Mike
