Until a few months ago I had little experience with Spanish double guns over many decades, except for a two barrel set made by Luis Arrizabalaga around 1937 apparently for the Duke of Danista. More recently I have received a Model 124 made by Martin Ugartaburu, and then an interesting Model 8 by Victor Sarasqueta , made before 1963 when it was rebarreled in England. Attached is a picture of the Sarasqueta locks . I was fascinated with the extent of their finishes.

Very pretty Daryl. My only Spanish gun is an AYA #2 28 gauge I got from Chris Baumohl, it went to South Dakota with the two of us a couple of times. I enjoy the memories when I handle it.

I think the engine turning is pretty standard on good Spanish doubles. I have had several and while not perfect they are very well made for the $.

How are Luis Arrizabalago and Pedro related? Is Pedro's business an extension of Luis' business?

Eightbore, I think there were several Arrizabalaga gunmakers. Some were relatives. The Weiland '"Spanish Best" book gives a bit of info on the surname. I was told that Garate, the head of Pedro Arrizabalaga at the time, viewed the Luis Arrizabalaga made in 1937 , and said it was as good as guns could be made in that period. He told my friend that the gun, an exact copy of a H and H Royal including engraving style , was made for the Duke of Danista. My friend asked if the Duke was a good shot, and Garate said that the Duke was the worst shot in all of Spain.

Businesses were unrelated. Once Pedro was asked about Luis and replied he did not know Luis.
