As I believe I mentioned earlier, there are lots of variables involved here (societal, economic, & very-much cultural) and there are plenty of examples of late-in-life hunters who come strongly into the sport as adults (without any previous exposure to it), leading to my revised overall theory of "Opportunity and Inclination ".
I do however like your supposition of the "genetic superiority" of the early hominids who first hunted. Would that we all decended from Captains and Kings...
That certainly resonates for me(!) as I'd much rather be associated with hunters and warriors than with bunch of seed-eaters and basket weavers (although both seem to be necessary anymore).
