Saddened to see that Chuck passed, I enjoyed his company and hospitality at his place in Western Kansas. Check went into an assisted living facility a few years back and passed at the end of May, just shy of his 91st Birthday. Godspeed Chuck.
That was Chuck, he spent quite a bit of time in Baja California, living there at least part time. Chuck was quite the character and definately believed that life was for living.
How about hanging around a bit more. You are missed.
Hi Stan. I haven't been collecting or shooting much lately. Retired in 2020. Lost my dog a year or so ago to age. Gave up trail horses a decade or two ago. Took up jeep rock crawling about 4 years ago. Just back from 10 day trip to Dusy-Ershim and Rubicon Trails, some of the toughest in CA. Picked up a pricey wine habit. Mostly Pinot Noir and Zins. Somewhere along the way, they told me I had prostate cancer. Irradiated it at Loma Linda University. Went back to life. How are you doing? I read about your accident a few years back. Hope you are well.
Wow! Rock crawling . . . . that's cool, but doesn't surprise me. I've always seen between the lines that you share the same zeal for life as I. I'm really glad to hear you successfully beat the prostate cancer.
I'm still farming, with my youngest son and my eldest grandson. Life is good. The drowning incident and subsequent 27 days in ICU, hospitilization, and rehab got me fully recovered with no negative repercussions. The morning of the incident at the lake I shot a 94/100 at sporting. A couple months later, while in the latter stages of recovery and regaining my physical strength, I shot another 94. So, it didn't hurt my shooting. Age, however, may be beginning to do so to some extent.
My "rock crawling" is enjoying my Allison high performance boat. At 74 years old I still feel a need for speed occasionally. There are no speed limits on GA waterways if you aren't endangering anybody else. So, I let the old Allison with its 260 hp Merc 2-stroke run free occasionally. I plan to be on the Savannah River near my home with it this afternoon.
Thanks so much for the reply. So glad you're still enjoying life.
