I've glass-bedded plenty of difficult stocks but it's a lot of work (the inletting is a major mess) just to make a pattern, especially since I intend this to be a budget restoration. An intermediate length small ring Mauser like this early Rigby can drop into a Swedish Mauser 96 stock with only minor alterations...and there are Swede 96 sporters with good walnut stocks very similar to the early Rigby stock all over the place these days...at least here In Canada...so that's probably the route I'll take for starters.
