I collect Oberndorf Mauser Model M and Model S. A few examples below.

Again, lovely rifles. I’m a fan of peep sights. The four rifles look almost identical. Are they all from the same maker? I assume Oberndorf made the actions, but not the rifles. Please tell us more.

Of course Mauser made the rifles. The (5) rifles in the pictures are all various versions of Modell M and Modell S. See below M and S images from a 1920's Mauser sporting rifle catalog.

Nice rifles. Do you hunt with them? What sight is on the last rifle pictured? I don't think I have ever seen it before.

Mine is a post war very much look-alike of a model M but built on a military small ring action. It has the spoon bolt handle, double set triggers, slight engraving, military magazine plate release, no barrel rear sight and a right side mounted Lyman peep, 500 mm barrel and the stock has the same shape and checkering pattern as the model M, and the metal end of barrel cap and is in 30-06. It is the most accurate bolt action I have ever had and is my back up hunting rifle. The German smith was obviously heavily influenced by the Model M but lacked access to an Oberndorf action.

Halfadouble,
I’d like to see that if you get a chance, I collect type S&M as well, it would be neat to see.

Nice earlier guns as usual Robin, the banner is my favorite.

I try to shoot and hunt with all my rifles. I believe that last sight is German, but I don't know the manufacturer. It is the only one I have ever seen. Jon Speed likewise.

I had a Model M w/Kurz action in 6.5x54mm (Mauser).
Beautiful little piece.
\All orig, no extra holes or alterations.
Bought it off a dealers table at a local gunshow. Everything else there was military Mausers and the crowd around was focused on those.
It went un-loved it seemed sitting in with the Military rifles offered for sale.
So for $1300 it was mine.
I sadly sold it off a couple yrs later when a whole lotta' $100 bills were offered.

At least I can say I owned one. Never shot it though

That’s an awesome story, I love finds like that, do you have any pictures? I have a Kurz type S found in much the same circumstances, only unfortunately the seller did know generally what top dollar looked like for such a stutzen.
