Nothing new about the 14 yr. olds' use of linked projectiles. This was a practice used during naval battles during the days of sailing ships. Two cannon balls were connected by a large chain. The fire was directed at the mast(s). Reasoning was that it increased the chance of breaking the mast and disabling the vessel. It was a close range enterprise.
