Yes the ribs used on SxS's and those vent ribs and 'solid ribs' are generally very soft steel.
The liners will hold up well on them.
I was given the 3 bbls from a SxS set to Florentine cut the top rib of each. The criss cross cut was at 45* off of each side. So the overlap was at 90* the top ribs on each).
Quite a laborious task but it turned out well. I don't recall which liner# I used but the cutting went well.
A few sharpening sessions in the entire work but that was to be expected.
When used on the more modern firearms on their frame and other parts, they don't last anywhere near as long before needing a sharpening.
Older vintage guns are softer steel frames and parts. So if not case hardened, the liners work well and you see some extensive use of them on those firearms
