Ordered a set of 12 gauge hammers and a pin off of Flea-Byte. The hammers are a scosh over .250 thick and the through-hole is @ 0.130, the pin is 1.455 long with a diameter of 0.125, there is some scoring around the pin where both hammers pivoted.
The hammers are swinging free. It would take a LOT of fouling to gum those hammers up. While measuring the through-hole on the hammer, the Starrett 831-A half-ball small hole gage found some rough drilling finish in the bore.
Probably could take a pass with a reamer to smooth out the bore to a uniform 0.130 , this would NOT tighten it up, or loosen it.
Found a supposed Hammer Pin on Flea-Buy. Notice the two worn areas on the shaft where the pin passed through the hammers. The ends look rough as heck, not dressed like original pins.
Of course, we can't be sure if this is actually an original pin. Might be a replacement that is Cold Rolled Steel [CRS]. If you look at the wear pattern, it seems the wear is concentrated towards one side of the shaft, while the opposite side looks to be fairly close to the original diameter.
