Thanks to Ted for posting the photos.
The point I wanted to make is shown here.
Both pictured guns are 28 gauge SxS of the same make.
The action on the right and on the bottom is small.
The one on the left and top is tiny. The forging was intended for a very small caliber double rifle. 22 Hornet.
The bolsters were retained to provide strength in the critical area at the junction of barrel flats and action face. The action is also fitted with sideclips and extended top rib fastener.
So far no issues with flexing or fracture.
