The subject of bolsters is important, but not critical to the discussion of preventing the gun from going off face, IMO. While a weakening/stretching of the juncture between the action flat and the breech could cause the gun to go off face, that is not the only way it can occur. Wear on the hinge pin and wear on the barrels' hook can also contribute to it. And, again IMO, this is more often the culprit than a stretching/failure of the action flat/breech juncture.
