I misunderstood your previous post; I thought you were checking new Bertram cases for cracks to avoid wasting time on cracked ones. For the life of me I don't understand how the person you got fired cases from could have actually used ammo with 74.5mm long cases. Learning from the mistakes of others (I have made plenty) is the right thing to do, to avoid them yourself.

When Berdan cases were the standard, they were practically the same cost as boxer cases would have been. The savings would be in the primers themselves, in making and placing the anvils, which wouldn't be necessary with Berdan cases.
