First successful Holts side by side purchase and was looking for any info and experiences for the importing, shipping, FFL etc. to the Dallas area. I have gotten the info from Holts on their preferred shipper Chordline and the consolidated services process. Any help is appreciated! I was hoping to get it in time for ruffed grouse Oct 1 but not sure that is possible without paying huge increase in price or doing a lot of the import work myself vs. using a service.

Hope it’s a gun you really want and or got a great deal

Generally importing one gun can be expensive as a part of the price

The fees are fixed except for the duty and insurance in transit

So when doing a more expensive gun does not look so bad
Looks a little worst on a less expensive gun

Now if it’s a unique gun that you can not find elsewhere than that comes into play

Thanks John. It was a gauge/gun i wanted but not a super deal. I'm looking for a little more details about any tips, experiences on the actual process and providers. Obviously expedited before October in my hands would be great but not to where I outvalue the gun or induce a divorce!

I guess you should’ve addressed those points before you hit the bid button.

There are several companies with people here on this site that will handle this entire thing for you from beginning to end.

British Sporting arms, and SKB both do it all the time affordably.

I would highly recommend British Sporting Arms. Charles is really efficient.

I can't get it here before October, not reasonably anyway.

If you can wait, I can help you in my next shipment which I will be putting in export paperwork for shortly.

I second that recommendation.

And I'd never recommend someone who advertises that service here, and refuses to say whether he/she pays Dave the measly customary $12.00 fee for using his forum to sell a For-Profit Service.

Funny how someone like that could cry about Trump imposing a Tariff, yet hide from a simple question about Dave's little tariff.

That sort of thing tells you all you need to know about honesty and integrity, or lack thereof... just my opinion, as always.

Now let's see if we hear any little pigs squeal!

Steve Bertram (SKB on this forum) can handle the importation and works with Holt’s regularly. He can then send it to your local FFL of choice for a standard FFL-to-FFL transfer.
I haven’t been to very many dealers in the Dallas area, I like Jackson Armory and Collector’s Firearms as they deal in a lot of vintage firearms.

I looked at the import options through Holts ahead of time and have imported some other items using Chordline but not a firearm. That's why I asked for help. Thanks for the recommendation!!!

You just kind of get the impression the auction houses are gouging Americans all the way along the process.
That’s why if you set up ahead of time it feels somewhat less punitive.

I imported some guns through BSA, and as I recall, Charles had loads of guns coming in every week from the auction houses. It didn’t seem like it took very long at all, but I may be misremembering.

It would be worth giving him a ring to see if he had a slot on an incoming load.
