Ok, that answers what I was wondering about Bertram cases and why there are so many complaints about them. It seems that, at least for 6.5x70 R and maybe some others, they are not selling ready to use cases, but rather basic cases to be formed into cartridge specific cases. That is ok as long as it is understood that significant work will be required to make useable cases; in fact, this is useful to know when forming cases for other similar cartridges.

Shot a handful of rounds this morning thru the Springer & obtained an average velocity of 2220 ft/s. The more I reload the smaller the velocity band/deviation gets.
Too, in order to anneal down to say 9mm, the water lever over the bases needs to be around 5mm.

After looking at the cases I inherited, about 1/2 of the cracked Cases had not been shot & were cracked during the resizing effort. The reason I know is that there were some 74-75mm cases, some of them loaded, that have cracks & I am pretty sure those will not chamber.
Velocity w/ 130 grain lead cast bullet & 27 grains of VV N140 is about spot on 2200 m/s.

So Ford, before I ruin any new cases, would you anneal the unformed raw cases, which typically have a uniform diameter of 0.3" and a length of 71-72mm?
Anneal; then trim; then resize; then trim a final time?
What would Ford do?
Now I have loaded cases that I carry with me that are seasoned and perform well, but I want to perfekt the process converting Bertram raw, unformed cases to correct form so that I don't waste any sticks of brass.

A valid point indeed, 7,35 Carcano. 1st, I am not a reasonable person & 2nd, these are the cards of which I nave been dealt for the moment. I have RWS >>Good Cases<<, but I do not have the 5,5mm Berdan Good Case primers to go with them. I am working on sourcing different cases, but that's requires a trip to Germany or an extended wait of 6 months for a machinist to tool up & convert some brass bar stock.

I certainly do not badmouth the RWS Berdan cases. I only know why the Blue Bible itself - the RWS reloading handbook - warned against using them.

I would anneal, size, trim, fireform, measure (trim if necessary), neck-size and load. Drop by the next time you get a chance. There is no telling where you might find some 5.5mm Berdan primers. With cases as rare as 6.5x70 R, everyone has to use whatever can be found. There is a way to convert 5.5mm Berdan primer pockets to .210" Boxer, but I haven't needed to try it. I think the best cases would be 6x70R, but I don't know of a reliable source.
