I just drove up to the UP earlier this week and followed Superior’s southern coast to the Duluth area.

Taking the Badger over to Wisconsin, make our way to Duluth and the idea is to follow the north shore to the Soo.

Well I just got back from hanging around the middle of the south shore and over to a bit of the north shore up from Duluth. It's not nationalist pride that makes me say I prefer the north shore. Way more spectacular. Very different geography. Too many beaches and not enough curving road. South shore seems largely suited to families with young kids and agate hunters. I had a good time nevertheless.

I haven't read this thread since Keith's posts, as a result of the time lag between when he writes then and when they show up, have appeared. Saving that for this evening. Should be entertaining.
