Does anyone here plan on attending the RGS hunt in October?
I have hunted the Grand Rapids area off and on for 40 years. Very familiar with the area but not the event.

Thank you,

RTH

Maybe?
I’m a life sponsor and have yet to use my invite.
I’ll ask Gabe Thursday when we shoot together.

What do you want to know about the event?

The actual answer for me is it depends on the dates.

I will be in St. Louis Missouri upon return from Ireland from September 9 until the end of October. I think usually the national Hunt is like the last week of October. I haven’t looked at the dates yet for this year.

So it’s right on the borderline for me of being able to do it or not this year.

I know the Hunt is problematic for some people, essentially it’s three days of guided hunting in return for 10 grand, and then there’s the competitive aspect between the dog handlers.

I’ve been listening to people who can’t attend, whining about the impact that has on the Grand Rapids area for the less affluent.
I can say, having attended other RGS sponsor hunts, that shooting ruffed grouse over great dogs is a lot easier.

Edited to add: I see that the dates are the seventh eighth and ninth of October, so that’s a no for me.
