For once, here in Hampshire I can see your photographs very clearly - thanks!

Looks like an excellent find, although to British eyes the beavertail fore-end does look odd. We don't have beavers here...

I would be fascinated to know how much it weighs - I am guessing 5 lbs 12 ounces?? 1966 sounds about right for that serial number, and the colour case hardening is superb!

OK, I know that there are some that have been illegally released in various parts. They are playing hell with the rivers and upsetting the trout fishermen.
I suspect that 'rewilding' is misguided, but perhaps that is a topic for another post.

My 1946 Webley 12 bore has 30inch barrels, a Prince of Wales semi-pistol grip and a splinter fore-end, just like the Percy Stanbury gun. It weighs 6.8 pounds and works beautifully on pheasants.

Our baby poults will arrive next week to be nurtured by us until mid-October, when we will encourage them to fly.
