AI is very good for finding old threads IF you know, exactly, the title of the thread you want to find. Using "Question about a Parker" is not going to work.
If you want to find an old thread with a particularly helpful (or insulting ) statement, you can use Wayback Machine.
I was able to recover part of Pete Mikalajunas' invaluable Damascus Barrels site after his death and the site went offline using Wayback. The images however were lost.

SO to search for an old thread on the Forum using Wayback machine use (you will need to cut & paste to your search engine ie Google Chrome or another)

It's a bit sad, and confirmation that I'm a lot older, to see some of the valuable (or not )posters who are no longer with us, by choice or by death. I would observe that it is considered very bad form to claim someone who has passed or left said something without providing the actual quote and link thereto.

There have been many others, many that were filled with personal attacks, venom and toxicity. Others were deleted entirely or were moved to the defunct Misfires forum. There were even some containing threats that resulted in bans. I have in the past posted links to several to show your friend the Nutty Professor that he had spent years engaging in the same sort of personal attacks and insults as he had been whining about during his long campaign to defund this site.

years ago, by chance i discovered the wayback software, and immediately pursued an old motorcycle website that had been removed from service (ATK - of which i owned several). was quite excited to have a chance to retrieve much useful knowledge of interest - and consequently diappointed to learn that only the thread titles were preserved. lesson learned, the only safe way to preserve digital data is by downloading everything you want.

being retired has offered the ability to slowly sift through the doublegun archives - i have started at the back, and made my way up-to-date, and looked into titles that seem interesting, and created a paper listing of things of value to me. pinpointing them is somewhat problematic, because there is no starting date for the threads, only the date of the last entry - and on longer threads you may have to invest a good deal time in backtracking to return to the original post.

Geoff: please allow me to share a bit of professional and pastoral advice. Hate, anger, unforgiveness, the desire for revenge, are acids that eat away our soul (William particularly likes that one )
I was REALLY angry when he claimed I had never gone to Guatemala (most trips are really hard and the ministry is almost totally financed from our investments, not by a church), but I realized that my anger was his goal, and didn't hurt him at all.
Anger and bitterness affect everything - especially our relationships; family, friends, work. I was disgusted at William's trolling in response to my sharing my pain at the death of my dog, and his joy and baiting when I discussed my dystonia in the flinching thread. But the absence of empathy, and esp. deriving pleasure from the suffering of others, is the hallmark of Antisocial Personality Disorder, often mixed with Narcissistic Personality Disorder ie. making fun of special needs kids as "window lickers". And the primary defense mechanism of both is playing the victim (ie ed) and projection (making his hate my hate, his lies my lies.) And unlike some of the faux psychologists here I am licensed by the state of Arizona to make those diagnoses

So I decided to start praying for William. I freely confess I wanted to pray Psalm 3:7 ("Arise, O Lord! Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked") but that's not very Christ like.
It was not, and remains, not easy. But I do so every morning. Really. It is hard to hate someone you are praying for.
And I genuinely pray that he finds healing, which, IMHO outside of transformation by the power of the Holy Spirit is not going to happen.

Please keep all this in mind. He wins when you respond in kind to his hate. I freely confess that I let him get to me in the past and I could have handled it much better. Rebuking lies and responding with facts however is not a counterattack, but at some point it's better to let it go.

Steve: when I was on the faculty at the UMKC SOM our teaching hospital was the county hospital. The patients were inner-city minorities (some very nice), lots of immigrants, and a big population who rotated between us, the city jail, the street, rehab, and the state psychiatric hospital next door.
Almost daily some poor med student was in tears when a drug addict would scream MF and FU at them, and I had death threats regularly. I told the students that hateful people hate themselves, and almost all are victims of something terrible - usually childhood sexual abuse. Childhood emotional and physical trauma is highly associated later drug abuse (to dull the pain), PTSD and Borderline Personality Disorder.
But I was not sharing the whole truth. Some people are just mean, miserable, SOBs whose only joy is making everyone else miserable. We can choose to not be like them, or to let them get to us. That does not mean we have to take the abuse however. Boundaries are healthy.
