In the social circles I travel in, up here in the Great White North, whether at the dog park, a dinner party, a coffee shop or a pub night, I am well known for speaking my mind, calling bullshit on Leftist stupidity, supporting Trump despite his manufactured trade war with Canada and pissing on Liberals, the education system and the media whenever appropriate. I come bearing facts and logic, not knee jerk emotion. And when the Right does something stupid, I call that out as well.
But Keith, and here's where you might learn something.....I do it without bullying people. Without insulting them. Without shunning them. I listen carefully to what they say, so they know I'm paying attention and give them a good hearing on whatever stupidity they happen to be blabbering about. And then I politely destroy what they just said. Then make sure their drink is topped up and ask them how their kids are. You know, like a normal adult. Not one whose only identity is being a far right implacable bully.
I'd like to believe the Bullshit reply from James here. Obviously, I don't go to his dog park, coffee shop, dinner parties, or pub to see how he listens to Liberals and then destroys them.
What I do see is how he was once pretty good at that here, and then drifted slowly toward his mamby-pamby coddling and placating them. He wanted to debate them and consider their views rather than destroy them as he once did. He's right that he didn't wish to shun them, but rather consider their views no matter how damaging or foolish. He was pretty damn good at insults, and hurled them at the likes of King, nca225, and other Liberals... until he slowly changed and went soft on them. A former member Boneheaddoc saw it too, and launched a vicious attack on James in Misfires, and I pushed back and defended James... because I was in denial, and slow to see the transformation. You can see that by how he switched to insulting me, falsely accusing me of lying about the demise of a friendship, and attempting to silence anyone who disagrees by calling for banning them. (I'd have to call that some pretty good bullying) At the same time, he went from angrily confronting King and his assault on Gun Rights, to accepting invites to visit him in Nova Scotia and actually teaming up with Princess SKB to help disrupt Gun Rights and other Threads. And now... when his new Liberal friends engage in the same behavior or worse, we hear nothing but crickets from him.
I saw the change. Doug, jOe, J.R.B., JamesM, DaveK and others saw it too, and we discussed it. The truth hurts, as they say... but telling the truth isn't bullying.
So I would ask how that soft touch approach of topping up the drink of the guy who is voting for Trudeau or other anti-gunner, to make it impossible for him to ever own a handgun or military style semi-auto, is working out for him and other Canadian Gun owners?
It's a little hard to see from here, and past results are no guarantee of future performance. But his approach hasn't made any gains whatsoever. He isn't destroying anybody, except in his little mind. The Left is still in ascendancy and only a few in the remote far west provinces are brave enough to really push back with talk of secession. And the way it's going, it won't be too many years before all those nice civil compliant Canadians like James are handing their hunting rifles and shotguns to a team of Mounties who come to their door.
